Release Notes 1.2
What's Changed
ADBC Oracle — Arpe.io ADBC FastDriver
FastBCP now supports ADBC for Oracle via the -C adbc_oracle connector, powered by the new ADBC Arrow_TTC driver (Arpe.io ADBC FastDriver). It speaks Oracle's TNS/TTC wire protocol natively — no Oracle Client / Instant Client required.
Key highlights:
- Ultra-fast Parquet exports from Oracle
- Native Arrow columnar format eliminates conversion overhead
- Same high-performance ADBC approach as the existing
adbc_mssqlandadbc_pgsqlconnectors - EZConnect source syntax (
host[:port]/service) - Supports the
Rowidparallel method for parallel extraction, in addition tooraodp - Parquet is the only supported output format for this connector
See Connection Parameters documentation for more details.
New Environment Variables
Added three new environment variables:
FASTBCP_ADBC_BATCHCELLS: controls the size (in cells, i.e. rows × columns) of the Arrow record batches fetched by the ADBC connectors (adbc_mssql,adbc_pgsql). Default:500000(500,000 cells). Sizing by cell count keeps batch memory usage predictable across tables of different widths. See the FASTBCP_ADBC_BATCHCELLS documentation for details.FASTBCP_SYSTEMINFO_COLLECT: collects system information (CPU, memory, OS, etc.) while a run is in progress. Disabled by default. See the FASTBCP_SYSTEMINFO_COLLECT documentation for details.FASTBCP_PERFORMANCE_COLLECT: collects performance information (CPU usage, memory usage, etc.) while a run is in progress. Disabled by default. See the FASTBCP_PERFORMANCE_COLLECT documentation for details.
To enable system and performance diagnostics collection:
- Windows
- Linux
$env:FASTBCP_SYSTEMINFO_COLLECT = $True
$env:FASTBCP_PERFORMANCE_COLLECT = $True
export FASTBCP_SYSTEMINFO_COLLECT=True
export FASTBCP_PERFORMANCE_COLLECT=True
Bug Fixes
ODBC with DSN — Login/Password Authentication
Fixed an issue where the odbc connection type with a DSN (--dsn) only worked with integrated (Windows/trusted) authentication. Providing explicit --user / --password credentials had no effect and the connection silently fell back to integrated authentication. DSN connections now correctly authenticate with the supplied login/password.
ADBC MSSQL — Column Limit Raised
Fixed a limitation in the adbc_mssql connector that restricted exports to tables with fewer than 256 columns. The limit has been raised to support standard tables with up to 1024 columns.
